A small studio in Glendale
We design houses and buildings for the foothill cities of Los Angeles and we live in the city we draw for. The studio is deliberately small: the architect you meet on the site visit is the one who draws the details and answers the contractor's calls.

What we believe
A house should follow its ground. On a hillside that means moving the least dirt; on a flat lot it means a plan that opens to the garden and a roof that keeps the sun off the glass.
Old houses deserve a careful hand. Glendale's Spanish Colonial Revival, Craftsman and mid-century stock is worth keeping, and additions should be clearly new and clearly quiet.
The city's review process is a brief, not an obstacle. We read the guidelines before we draw and we design to pass the first time.
Honest materials, well detailed, age better than finishes. Plaster, oak, concrete, zinc, tile.

Awards, publications and lectures are listed here by year once confirmed with the studio.
Collaborators
We work with a regular group of structural and geotechnical engineers, surveyors, arborists, landscape architects and contractors across the San Gabriel and San Fernando Valleys. On historic work we bring in trades who still do smooth plaster, true-divided wood windows and clay tile.

Come by the studio, or we'll come to the lot.
A site visit is the first step. We walk the property, tell you what the lot allows, and give you a cost range before you commit to a fee.
Not sure the lot is buildable? Ask about a site feasibility review.
